Caitlin’s project found her at work with the youth enrolled in the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation’s Youthline Program, which introduces inner-city children to the wonders of the outdoors and simultaneously teaches them how to make healthier lifestyle choices; and also found her involved in shaping the curriculum for the City of Lakes Nordic Ski Foundation youth outreach program, in which she guided area youth through the preparations—physical and mental—necessary to participate in a series of outdoor sporting competitions. Caitlin viewed her youth development work in Minneapolis as a chance to give back to the community that has been her home, as well as an opportunity to function as a much-needed role model for deserving area children.
