Gabriel worked as an assistant coach with the Eugene South High School cross country and track teams in Eugene, Oregon. In daily workouts he utilized the crucible of running as an opportunity to discuss leadership, discipline and other virtues intrinsic to sport. Gabriel is also trained as a music teacher and offered after-school lessons to interested community youth. Of the latter, Gabriel writes, “the volunteer work that I have chosen best exemplifies my passion; music continues to be a crucial practice...[that] brings enormous joy to my life, and it is my hope that I can share this passion with a small slice of the community’s children with whom I will have an opportunity to work directly.” Gabriel is now enrolled in law school at the University of Oregon and is raising a family.
